“paris changes everything” episode: i nominate this for the best hills ever. paris! smoking! crillion! vespas! lots of whitney/very little audrina! having lived there briefly, there was no suspense with the “omg colette is CLOSED” plot as i still had the store’s hours written down in my hermes agenda. and in the very end, when they said “this season, on the hills,” we see–and hear–that lauren has some sort of reunion with STEPHEN.

sofia mini: everyone knows i love and admire ms. coppola. however, the closest i’m getting to her (tonight, at least) is in the form of a tiny aluminum can (or three) of sparkling wine. it even comes with its own straw–a paris-napa juice box. the cans are small, dark pink, slender, and one hundred eighty degrees from a pbr.

u.s. vogue 4/08: this issue was a delight. from the idea of anna wintour thinking most models are too thin to my style hero kate young wearing thick horizontal stripes when visibly pregnant, it smashed some of my long held assumptions. if you set aside an hour or two and really READ the thing i promise you won’t be disappointed. i’m going to take most of the stickers from the painfully boring lucky and use them to remember to buy the news books by eleanor coppola and suze rotolo (aka “that girl” on the cover of “freewheelin”)

new gossip girl and 30 rock: brand new, fully scripted television returns in the coming weeks. anyone else want to go to silvercup and hold a “dan humphrey+ liz lemon 4ever!” sign?

we all know i have a deep love of brooks brothers boys. cute, chic, old school preppy basics at a reasonable price point. but i have a new crush. the “boy” line by band of outsiders, as seen above. (a shrunken wool schoolboy blazer over a silk/cotton blend shirt.)despite its adorable name, it’s made (and hopefully cut) for women. a blazer that can, ostensibly, button over my 32Ds, that’s small in all the right places (look at that sleeve length!) and without those icky gold buttons, too. you’ll notice the sleeves of the button up are not much longer, so there won’t be the normal bulk that comes with rolling them. it’s a flawless color, not too punchy, but also not too pale. the fabric sounds promising as well.

i have yet to make it to barneys or opening ceremony to try it in person–much like the row, they’re apparently too cool to sell online yet–but from what i’ve seen on their web page and their new collection , it’s pretty perfect.

the coats, sweaters, vests, dresses, and skirts are also highly coveted by your dilettante. however, i think i’ll pass on the pants, as i would need them hemmed. more importantly, they’re not tight enough in the butt and thigh.

they are the perfect 70′s jane birkin meets prep school look that i am considering.  i love me some early anna karina, true. but there is something about getting rid of the straight legs and the skinnies that seems really liberating.

currently, i’m imagining them with the caramel apc moccasins or old school top-siders; sheer, thin cotton tanks and tees in white, black, and grey; a long chain with a pendant or ring at the end, a perfect brooks or ralph lauren boys’ navy blazer with short-ish sleeves, a simple woven belt, and some sort of straw bag/basket, maybe like the shopping bags at anthropologie with the long, beat up leather handles.  with the old standbys, though: wayfarers, diamond studs, cape cod double tour, jungle red manicure and pedicure.

hmm.

it’s kind of weird to your dilettante that kathleen would want to get married to anyone, even someone as adorable as adam horovitz. i’d think she’d be above such a bourgeois (and in this country, hetero) idea. i wonder if she wore white?

marriage thoroughly confuses me, so i’m not really the best judge. i wouldn’t say i’m against it, but at this point in my life, i can’t even imagine why i would get married other than for the presents (and, hopefully, for a good last name.)

at the end of the day i wonder if i could really be that committed to being free and bohemian.

(don’t worry.  i didn’t graduate from college during my hiatus.)

just a case of going out too much, writing too little. 

however, i did watch “the graduate” a bunch.  (mostly for mrs. robinson’s impeccable costumes.)

eventually, it lit a petite fire under my ass as well.  it’s so well written and perfectly shot.  every time you pause it, you’re looking at a perfectly composed photograph.  

and, like ben, i don’t know what i want, but i know exactly what i don’t want: boredom.   

“the life and times of allen ginsberg” documentary: netflix this now! his life story, filled with interviews of the genius himself. it makes me want to name my unborn son after him.

mary-kate olsen in harper’s bazzar: perfect aka rich and thin. i want those arms! however, neither lauren hutton or mk resemble the edies in the photos.

“tangerine” from led zeppelin iii: then, now, and forever. extra points for being at the end of almost famous.

le palais des thes: great loose tea in such cool tins. my favorite, genmaicha, comes in bubblegum pink.

the scale: thanks to daily yoga, salads, heartbreak and adderall, i love it more with each passing day. losing weight is so thrilling.

5 year high school reunion: to go or to skip? it’s the weekend after i get my highlights, so i’m leaning towards yes.
